The Fannaichs consist of ten tops, seven form a continuous chain stretching north west from the east end of Loch Fannich. .The Fannaichs form an exceptionally fine cluster of high mountains with Dundonnell, Strath Bran and the Kyle of Lochalsh railway line bounding them on 3 sides. If you're thinking of travelling here by train then the nearest train station on the Kyle line is at Garve, just 5 miles from Craigdarroch Hotel.
Loch Fannaich gives perspective to this great wilderness with the main ridge of the Fannaichs on the north shore.
The Fanniachs offer fine all round mountaineering with testing ridge walks, summer and winter climbing.
From Craigdarroch, drive north towards Ullapool on A835. Turn left at Gorstan just past Garve onto the A832 towards Achnasheen. Grudie to Loch a'Bhraoin 32 kilometres A private road leaves the main road just east of the power station at Grudie Bridge. This winds in through deer forest for 6 kilometres to the infill dam at the east end of Loch Fannich and then on for another 6 kilometres to Fannich Lodge. The gate at the road end is locked although there is a pedestrian stile. Continue on the north shore of Loch Fannich crossing the footbridge over Allt Lea a B'healaich which is followed to the head of the pass between Sgurr Breac and Sgurr nan Clach Geala. From there the path continues down to the east side of Allt Breabaig to the bridge and the track which leads onto the Dundonnell road.
We can arrange to drop you off at Grudie and pick up from the Dundonnell end of this walk by arrangement.
